Bigelow Tea is always thinking of new ways to reduce its impact on the environment, and in recognition of Earth Day 2015, the company participated in a number of employee generated activities at its Fairfield, CT headquarters. Check it out!

  • A new initiative called “Project Canopy” will encourage employees to donate their spare change. For every dollar raised, the Earth Day Network plants one tree.
  • Employees have been asked to participate in an energy reduction pledge and commit to reducing their driving mileage for one week.
  • A new “Teracycle” Zero Waste box will collect used writing instruments as an additional way to reduce the company’s solid waste that is not being recycled or reused.
  • For CT Rides week, employees saved 2000+ miles driven by biking to work or sharing rides.
  • The community garden at Bigelow Tea Headquarters was re-opened just in time for spring!

zero-waste-to-landfill company, Bigelow Tea diverts 94 percent of its solid waste companywide, and 85 percent of its packaging is compostable, biodegradable or recyclable.

These are just a few ways Bigelow Tea and its dedicated employees are committed to protecting the environment. Bigelow Tea drinkers are also encouraged to recycle Bigelow tea bags and boxes. One Bigelow Tea Facebook fan, Carol B. Brown, recommends, “Recycle the box. The used tea bags are excellent for your garden — they enrich the soil and are very easy to mix in.”
